So here's what I'm thinking:

In 21XX, Humanity discovered a number of anomalies in space-time just beyond the edges of the solar system. After conducting numerous scientific studies of these anomalies, they were concluded to be an area that was prone to creating wormholes, as it sits between two areas of distortion created by being in between two solar systems. Using this, scientists found that by creating a small explosion in this region would open a stable wormhole with a short range, putting anything traveling through it in another part of the Milky Way galaxy. 50 years later, you are chosen to lead the construction and governance of a colony to provide desperately needed resources to a now barren Earth.

Though stripped of its resources, Earth has found ways to produce the most vital of resources from recycled materials (rock [ore], water, Oxygen.) Your primary mission is to gather and provide the Earth with materials which cannot be reproduced on earth (primarily Gold, Uranium and Aluminum) as well as sending back some more valuable materials to provide more funding for the colony. Resources will be sent back using either rockets or a high velocity capsule fired from a cannon to reach the Europa outpost, and be transported back to Earth via Mars.

In addition to your primary goals, Insurrection may arise in those who wish to be free from the laws of United Earth. It is recommended to keep your workers happy, and keep your radical colonists under scrutiny to prevent a mutiny against you. Keeping your colony healthy should also be a priority, as broken colonists provide negligible resource output.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Later in the game, the colony would be contacted by the beginnings of the LIS, who offer the colony a place in their new independent government, with less restrictive laws, and a more tight-knit community. Doing this would anger United Earth, who would refuse to send any more resources, and would destroy anything coming through the wormhole from your colony, making your colony more reliant of itself and what could come through the LIS

Its 2020 and a global Pandemic is sweeping the planet Earth. This causes half of the world's land to become uninhabitable. While exploring an ancient temple in the former Egypt area, a young Kansas native discovers something ancient, not human ancient, something before humans. Finding this alien item, he shows the world. This starts the Galatic Age. Knowing that the planet of Earth is a time bomb the scattered remains of humanity begin to create massive digsites to find more of these artifacts, obsessed with the before or "ancients " they accumulate more and more artifacts and expand past Earth to other worlds to mine. It's 20XX and the United Earth Empire is slowly expanding more and more but their Empire is shaky and states breakaway, one of these is UIS. Alien tech is just now being discovered and many things are still not known how to be created in low gravity areas. Your goal is to survive and support United Earth no matter how much other colonies sway you.

And then came Demoman
Have a fantastic day!

Here is my idea:

In the future, after the pandemic of 2020, the governments arise victorious after defeating covid19. However, this victory came at the cost of their wealth. As a result, mankind’s larger corporations managed to overthrow the governments and create their own governments from scratch. This caused global conflicts that left earth battered from corporate warfare.

In their combined efforts to reach the stars and find another earthlike planet to inhabit, the corporations formed the “United Mankind Consortium”. On the outside, it appeared that lasting peace would ensue between all of the corporations. However, as soon as warp technology was discovered in 2035, bringing countless profitable planets within reach, the corporations began a so called “Planet Rush” to find and fortify their claim on the most lucrative of planets. This is where you come in, from about 2035-2045, but let’s talk about the connection to mc1.

The united Mankind consortium becomes the United Earth in 2050 after one of the UMC corporations absorbed all of the other corporations via hostile takeover and re-established itself as a democratic republic. The LIS was actually formed to oppose the UMC before they became the UE, and they have always had the same ideals. Many splinter alliances left the UMC before it became the UE, but since organizations like UE and LIS grow much larger in the future, these alliances don’t play a major role in mc1, and most simply join one of the two organizations when reptilians came into the picture and started raiding human planets for slaves and resources. The combined military efforts of the UE and LIS were victorious against their new foe and the two species agreed to leave each-other alone, for now.

Now, about where you come in. You have several alliances to choose from when choosing a side in this galactic planet rush. These are just example alliances that one can join. They wouldn’t change what buildings or units you can have, but more effect specific production rates and unique features of your colony:

United Mankind consortium: After the planet rush, the UMC changed their goals. They now strive to ensure humanity’s survival, no matter the cost. They value research and colonist growth over industry and profits. However, they offer less freedom to colonies and their citizens, so colonist happiness is harder to achieve. They also very much dislike it when their colony’s declare independence.

Pros:
Bonus to colonist health regen.
Bonus to research speeds
Faster hospital healing
Reduced research cost
Bonus to civics production
Increased military strength
Cons:
Colonist happiness harder to achieve
Reduced money production
Reduced resource production speeds
Unhappy colonists more likely to riot.
Increased independence cost.

Leaque of Independent states: This alliance rose against the UMC because of the lack of freedom. The LIS promoted the rights of colonies to govern their own people and maintained peace between the colonies in their league. They value colonist happiness and industry over profits and research.

Pros:
Colonist happiness easier to achieve
Increased resource production speeds
Reduced taxes from sponsor
Reduced cost for independence
Increased payroll assistance from sponsor
Reduced import/export transaction fees
Cons:
Reduced civics production
Reduced money production
Reduced research production
Increased research costs
Reduced Military strength

The outer worlds mining alliance: this corporation rose to benefit from strip mining resources and turning a good profit. They value industry and profit over everything else, and could care less about the health and happiness of their “employees”.
Pros:
Increased money production
Drastically Increased resource production
Reduced construction costs
Faster build speeds
Drastically increased resource node contents
Increased military strength
Cons:
Colonist happiness harder to achieve
Slower colonist health regen
Slower hospital healing speed
Unhappy colonists more likely to riot
Uneducated colonists more likely to commit

The garden master alliance: This alliance likes to terraform planets, but not for an unselfish reason. They create beautiful worlds for the sake of tourism, and they are not a fan of immigration. They also are obsessed with resource conservation because industry tends to ruin their planets tourism rates.

Pros:
When the planet is fully terraformed, gain a large bonus to tourist visits
Bonus to tourist income
Bonus to terraforming speeds. This applies to atmosphere, sea level, heat, and oxygen production and reduction
Significant boost to plant spreading speed.
Cons:
Drastically reduced immigration rates makes for not enough workers.
Drastically reduced civics production
Reduced research production
Reduced resource production speed
Reduced resource node contents.

The new paradise alliance: these are you typical selfless terraformers that want to create paradises for all mankind. They favor terraformation, immigration, and research over profits and industry, and they have a weaker military force.

Pros:
Faster terraforming rates. This applies to atmosphere, sea level, heat and oxygen production and reduction.
Faster plant spread speed
Increased immigration rates
Colonist happiness easier to achieve
Increased colonist health regen
Increased research production
Decreased research costs

Cons:
Decreased resource production
Decreased resource node contents
Decreased military strength
Decreased money production
Decreased civics production

The new Soviet Union: A large group of corporations with Communist ideals. They value industry, profit, research, and military power over immigration, happiness, health, terraformation, and tourism. They rule with an iron fist, and this brings them a lot of advantages and disadvantages.
Pros:
Increased money production
Increased civics production
Increased resource production
Increased resource node contents
Increased research production
Reduced research cost
Increased military strength
Cons:
Colonist happiness harder to achieve
Unhappy colonists more likely to riot.
Uneducated colonists more likely to commit crime
Slower colonist health regen
Slower hospital healing rates
Slower terraforming rates
Slower plant spread speed
Slower tourist inflows

Well that’s my take on the story of mc2, hope you like it!

Edit: Two of those alliances are invalid since bast has no plans to add terraforming. That leaves 4 alliances. I’ll think of 2 new alliances to replace those.
