map rotation

I have built residential towers that block the buildings behind them. I know the layout of my colony well enough that I what what buildings are where but as my colony grows it gets harder to keep track. I can already zoom in and out and scroll around. My map now if I could rotate it as well there would be no issues with tall buildings blocking view of small buildings.

You could toggle it to where all buildings are slightly transparent so you could see what is behind them

unfortunately, there is no way to rotate the map because all of the pictures for the buildings that bast uses are 2d, and if bast were to implement this, he would have to make multiple images for each structure and it would take him ages to do that. It would be nice if bast learned how to render 3d buildings, then it would be feasible to rotate the map, but I don't think that 3d buildings are in bast's plans for my colony.

this game is already difficult for a lot of devices to run. Every phone I have played on even expensive ones get very hot during gameplay and I don't think 3d animations would be good for this game. As far as multiple images goes I was thinking 4 angles and 4 building views. But your right that would be very time consuming. This thread can probably be deleted.

I normally play with my screen completely dimmed to save powerand prevent my phone from overheating that's why I mentioned this.

In another thread someone has started drawing up the sides to each building so you can change the orientation of each building to face any direction with that being in progress it could be a possibility sometime in the future...

Yeah, i said this because it would take bast ages to redraw everything. Maybe in the distant future though. Honestly, i think a feature like that would be useful. I just concerned with how daunting the task of redrawing the backside of every building is.

Feel free to post any bak views of buildings to help this process come true sooner.

what about map search? find that goddam 1x1 ant paste synthesizer in the middle of hundreds of structures?

No need to redraw. Just use the current graphics.

Buildings could just not rotate, only change their positions. I hope you understand.

+1 Acu

I think buildings could only have two rotations, the right/left flip. And they would be flipped for each rotation of the map of 90°. Some buildings are centered yet so it doesn't affect them. For the others, it only affects the direction and authorize no back for buildings. But it allows a change of perspective and even if it will not be perfect, I think it would be better that no rotation at all.
