My Colony 2 v0.56.0 Released
Today I am pushing out the v0.56.0 update to My Colony 2, which should be going live on all platforms momentarily. Work continues to bring MC2 back to life from out of the ashes, so let's take a look at what is new!

To kick things off, Player Mode was basically in complete shambles in the last update, and frankly has need some attention for some time now.
Do start off, Player Mode now lets you set and return to Spawn Points. Before there were situations where your character could get stuck somewhere and you would basically never be able to play him again. Now in the menu you can simply return to your spawn point and go about your business. This also helps if you have walked a great distance and want to quickly get back home.

And if your character is already stuck somewhere, the Return to Spawn menu option will bring you back to an appropriate settlement for your character until you are able to set your own spawn point manually.
Improving the mobile experience was a big part of this update. The game now supports both landscape and portrait orientations on mobile, and many of the UI elements have been reworked or improved. Controls and inputs on mobile now more closely align with those from My Colony 1, so players going from 1 to 2 should feel a bit more at home. All in all, the game just "feels" a lot more like My Colony on mobile.
On desktop as well, various UI tweaks have been made to bring the game closer in line with MC1 10th Anniversary. Again, the overall goal here to to make MC2 "feel" a lot more like a My Colony game.

You will notice other small improvements here and there as well. Hovering over a building will now make it semi-transparent so you can see behind it, like in MC1. A lot of the graphical glitchiness has been fixed when ordering building constructions, particularly with chained construction. The game font has been changed to match the one from MC1. Fullscreen mode can now be toggled while in-game, instead of just from the title screen, and a couple of engine settings (metallic/emissive voxels) that were not working before have now been fixed. The default zoom level has been adjusted to look more like MC1.

All in all, the overall goal with this release was polish, cleanup, and bringing MC2 up to where it needs to be to move forward. I really want MC2 to look and feel like it deserves the My Colony name, and I think you will see that it is certainly moving in that direction with this release. I plan to keep updating and improving My Colony 2 over the coming weeks and months, with the goal of a full and proper Steam release by the end of the year!
So go ahead and give the new release a try, and if you find bugs/issues or have things you would like to see added or improved, let me know in the official Ape Apps Discord channel!
