My Colony v3.4.0 Released
The v3.4.0 update for My Colony is now rolling out to all platforms, so let's take a look at what is changed with this release!
The primary focus on this update has been performance optimizations, as many users have been sending feedback about gameplay slowdowns on larger colonies, especially related to construction and rover movement. To address this, several under-the-hood performance optimizations have been implemented in this release, and I think most players will notice a good improvement.
On top of that, and by request, I have also added a new engine setting to disable decorative vehicle rendering, so that colonies with large numbers of busses and service vehicles do not end up in a pathfinding pit of doom.
Also in engine settings, you can now switch the rendering filter between Smooth and Pixelated. This was implemented by a request, and although it does not really alter performance, some users did not like the smoothness of the anti-aliasing engine.
Also in this release, players will notice a huge change when building roads, pavements and other passable tiles, as they are now built instantly. No longer will rovers be required to drive to each individual passable tile in order to construct it. This is both a performance change, but also a QoL feature. So you can now plot out as much pavement as you wish without worrying about rovers.
Moving on, the Game Data tab in the Command Center now contains a Backup option, so you can backup your game without first exiting to the title screen.
I have also greatly reduced the spread speed of spreadable map resources like trees and sugarcane, which should help with some maps being taken over by resources. The spread speed has been reduced (or I guess you could say increased, depending on how you look at it) by roughly 5x. I can adjust more in the next update if needed.
Finally, in honor of ten years of My Colony, the new Statue of Ten structure has been added to the game, and can be built by all civs, provided you have the resources (needs both Steel and Antanium).
