Thank you jova, it's all going well so far...

No just the same no points being generated no one pontificating on them........on a brighter note my new game is still generating points so will delete old game and carry on with the new one...shame but I'll soon make up the shortfall,,,can't play without research points they open up all the other stuff, thank you jova for all your help and to you too Mic6345 . will post back if new game goes the same way.
Oh by the way what are wanderers I had a load in my old game and can't seem to do anything with them.

Yes I have them next to each other, I'll try putting them on their own and report back.

Right I started a new game and when I could afford it I build a grammaticus...still no worker in it...so went to title like you said and the research points are adding up...I'll go to my old game and try that and see if it works,
No it didn't work in my old game the people are in there but off duty all the time if I fire one another takes it's place straight away but still off duty. I'll load up my second game and see if that gives research points like it should and report back later.

Ok, thank you for your help jova, I'll keep trying to populate my grammaticus.

I tried the colonist with white tunic..but when I click on hire a pop up says "hire worker heading" and wont go off until I close it and when I try to click on anything I can't, meanwhile because I've closed the pop up the colonist gets unhired......all workers in the grammaticas are off duty so that's why I'm not getting any research points but they've been off duty for 4 of my days, I've tried firing them but to no avail.

Thank you for replying jova, the grammaticus has been working but stopped...I have 4 now,...none of them work there are no people on them, but there used to be....which slave do I purchase please..it doesn't say which one to purchase for grammaticus..just marble working building etc..I looked down the list in the people tab but grammaticus isn't mentioned....I'm playing on windows 10 from the windows store..my pc is i5 8gb ram,
I just can't get any further without research points, I have nearly 200 people.

Also I keep paying to open research and nothing is happening, this is a bug please sort it...I cant play until you do. no-one has even answered my post...I will delete the game if no-one has answered in three days.

MY Grammaticus are not giving research points any more, I've tried deleting them and rebuilding but just the same...there's no-one on them this has been happening for a few days now and I cant progress.
