I just started a game in forest mode and there are lakes and no rivers as if the game had not been updated for info I am in 0.52

I think I understand what you mean. You started a map on the Forest Planet and there are only the ponds on that planet. Which is correct. If you want the River which is new, you have to choose the Earthlike planet.
so there is no more river in the forest world? This is not a bug?
To my knowledge (someone please correct me if I am wrong) the Forest planet only has ponds. Rivers were introduced with the Earthlike planet. Again, I could be wrong here because I don't play the Forest planet very often and when I have there have only ever been ponds.
Earth Or create mode are the only maps that can or do have the river .
BUT the river is a issue as it is Never ending ( infinite water ) end Can not be destroyed .
No bridges no way to do a thing with it .
so is very very game limiting .
I will add the new create a map river can be added as well and just one tile will supply endless water without condensers of any type .
Editing post to add I am sure bridges and ways to control the river will be added like canals heck proble be water bots ( that can drive (on it .
