I'm posting this thread because I forgot to add a poll. i couldn't go back and add a poll after I created the original thread. Forum Admin, please delete the other thread that I posted.

"Below are some svg's that could be used as lighting path graphics.l. Hopefully bast decides that incorporating lighting into one tile paths is feasible.

These will be the basic lighting styles for each material. I will include more catchy options later but for now it is important to get the main upgrades onto this forum so that if bast wants to he can put them in the next update. I'm also going to group them by lighting intensity into levels where 1 is the dimmest.

Pavement lighted road. Level 1 lighting and consumes 1 power for each road tile in place. Costs 2 ore
Regolith lighted road. Level 1 lighting and consumes 1 power for each road tile in place. Costs 1 regolith and 1 ore.
Hardened Pavement lighted road. Level 2 lighting. These more complicated lights show that your colony has become more sophisticated. Slightly better lighting due to the light being high on a pole but still consumes 1 power like the two before it. Costs 4 ore and 5 steel.
Dark Pavement Lighted road. Level 3 lighting. These dual lighted posts will give your colonists plenty of light and add a +1 to aesthetics. Consumes 2 power and costs 20 ore, 10 regolith, 10 steel, 5 oil, 5 gold, and 1 aluminum.
Rainbow Lighted road. Level 4 lighting and consumes 4 power. Provides more than enough light for your colonists and also keeps its fun look. Costs 50 toys, 25 plastic, 20 aluminum, 10 gold, and 5 steel.

The stronger and more eficient paths will get more complex lights and should also cost more power than simpler lighting tiles. Each road will either have lighting in the floor of the road or on the top corner. This is because rovers are going to move over anything that is placed in the other three corners."

yes super idea but in this case the small lamps that cost 10 minerais one will almost no longer serve nothing and how much do you estimate the price of a lighting trolley?

well, those lamps are actually different types of roads, called lighting roads. each material of road would have a lighted version of that material that can be upgraded separately from regular road. Each lighted road would cost a small amount of power to operate and can be placed by the normal bots that are allow to place each specific material. The two images that you see above are the lighted versions of regolith path blocks and pavement blocks.

To make this simple for the player to place lighting, I would create a regular strip of road and then click on any particular segment in the road and select "add lighting" from it's build menu. Then, that particular road segment becomes upgraded to the lighted version of that material.

Once you see the other images that I post later today and tomorrow, you will begin to understand if you don't already.

And commenting on the lamps that cost 10 ore. Those lamps produce much more light than these simple lighted roads, which means that they would still be useful. Yes, the better material road you have, the brighter their lighted version becomes, and some may even be brighter than those lamps, but there's a good reason for these things to be in the game.

When you have a large colony with no more space where all of your roads have buildings cramped up against each side, you shouldn't have to restructure those roads in order to get them lighted, you would waste too much space trying to put an extra row for lamps down each road. Instead, just "add lighting" to some of the road tiles on the one lane road and those segments will emanate light. That's why the pictures that I'm putting in this post are vital.

Or how about a diamond plated, dark pavement with recessed surface lighting!?!

It would generate 10 power and provide an upgrade to the general lighted pavement?

That is awesome! How did you get the lighted road to work for your colony? So, you gave an option for dark pavement, that would be a nice addition to the game and would be very possible as you've clearly shown. I also like how you made my lighted reg paths dimmer, that's exactly what i had in mind! I wouldn't make the diamond an upgrade though because not all colonies have a good supply of diamon by the time they can make dark pavement. That certainly could be another option in the decorations menu for it though.

I'm drawing up more stuffs as I'm speaking, so stay tuned. I'll make an image for hardened pavement, another option for dark pavement, a few alu, brick, and lego options, and a dark matter pavement tile(would be purple like alien tech) that I wanted to play with that actually darkens the area around it but causes rovers to move insanely fast, almost instantly.

I replaced the texture for the light poles with the lighted roads. Aesthetically it works but the vehicles and workers cannot use the paths to travel.

ah, shux, I thought you made it legitimate, haha. Well, I know that bast could do it if he wanted to so I'm not too discouraged. You did a good job on that diamond road though, paste the svg here so that bast can use it if he wants. Be sure to provide power usage and resource cost.

Hmm... with current technology we already have solar panel roads (Tourouvre-au-Perche in Normandy, France) so I don't see a problem with having diamond paneled dark pavement with integrated lighting.

Wow, I didn't know that. I guess it makes sense to have solar roads that produce energy, but it would cost a good amount of diamonds each. This would be a great road for the LIS upgrade path then, but not the UE due to lack of diamonds. I'll make more options for dark paths too. I've been sidetracked on making images for a new world type, but I'll make more road options soon.

Hushush, I've attached more images above for you to play with. Can you show me what they look like out in the field like you did with the first two?
