Atmosphere in the game is the combination of both breathable gas (air) and greenhouse gasses (pollutants). Perhaps in the future those two can be differentiated and the sum of those two would be considered the atmosphere level of the planet.

I read through that thread, but CO₂ is quite specific and it also entails modification of a lot of other variables. Perhaps as a prelude to that level of complexity we start with the simple 'Air' and 'Pollution' method. The atmosphere condensers can take from both, though carbon scrubbers would be a better building for removing pollution.
