Clearing Out Old Service Worker in Chrome

Several people have asked how to clear out a service worker in Chrome so that they can get an un-cached build of My Colony in their web browser.

Usually this can easily be done by opening dev tools (ctrl + shift + i), right clicking on the Refresh/Reload page button, and saying 'Empty Cache and Hard Reload', but sometimes chrome is stubborn and will keep a service worker running.

In this case, open Dev Tools again (ctrl + shift + i), or find it in the following menu:

Resize the Dev Tools window by click/dragging its edge to make it bigger, so you can see all of the options at the top. Go to the Application tab, select Service Workers from the left pane, find My Colony, and click on Stop and then Unregister. You might have to a hard reload or close your browser and open it back up after that.

My Colony uses service workers and caching to improve load times and reduce bandwidth usage, since sometimes traffic on the web version can be heavy. Unless you are using Chrome OS, you can avoid a lot of these problems by playing the Native Client version of the game, or running it through the Ape Apps Launcher, which you can get from here:
