After the last PDF Documnent Scanner app update, it did not recognize my printer. I uninstalled then reinstalled my printer (HP OfficeJet Pro 9015).
Now, it recognizes my printer but when I try to scan a doc, I get a scan error: unable to communicate with the scanner. Make sure it is set up correctly, or try restarting it.
I can find no issue with set up. I've also tried restarting it.
So the app just gets printer and scanner information directly from the Windows API, and it is the operating system itself that handles all scanning operations. So if it is not communicating with the scanner properly, there is sadly not a whole lot I can do about it. I guess you can try rebooting the machine or uninstalling/reinstalling the app :-/
