Taxi or Mass Transit Stations

Installing mass transit systems like: Subway stations, train stations, Mass Transit Bus Stations, Taxi Services, Light Rail, Uber, Etc could provide a conduit for decreasing unhappiness due to long walks to work. You could also incorporate repair or maintenance facilities to support these public utilities as well for blue collar jobs.

Greater incorporation of the concept could also lead to building/installing and maintaining the actual train tracks/subways tunnels as well.

Each station could have a zone of influence and maximum impact once the asset is saturated with population density that would represent 100% utilization of that asset.

This idea has been requested many times. Please read the suggestion index before posting your suggestions to see if someone has already thought of your idea.

Also, next time include a poll with your suggestion. Most ideas that get added are ones that have polls on them.

Read the index, it only had the top 10 ideas on it. Is the expectation that I sift through 20 pages of forums to see if mine is redundant???

no, no. It's in there somewhere, wasn't expecting you to do that. Was just alerting you that your idea has been posted many times. I'm sure bast will add this in the future but right now he is focusing on reptilians and zolarg. Sorry if I came across a little blunt in my first comment, really wasn't trying to say it like that.

Just to add, I know that a lot of people have wanted mass transit for some time. It actually requires a pretty significant overhaul of the path finding system though. This is an idea that would actually be a lot easier to implement if the entire game were just simulated on a macro level. Since each individual colonist (up to a certain population) has a specific house, job, goes to different venues, etc, the engine would have to start calculating and keeping track of the shortest distance from all of these different places, the distances from places to transit hubs, etc. I have actually spent a lot of time thinking about how mass transit would be implemented, and every solution would be pretty complicated.
