Dylan's Ideas

Hello all,
My name is Dylan Carter and I would like to present my planet idea: an ocean world. I know that this planet type has been presented before, but I would like to start my own page. On this page, I will suggest all my ideas, keeping them concentrated on one page. I would love feedback from anyone, especially moderators and Brandon Stecklein. If moderators want me to copy this stuff and paste it in other discussions, I will be flexible. Enjoy!

Planet Type: Ocean World
Civilization: United Earth
Difficulty: Normal to Difficult
Atmosphere: 2,500,000
Resources: Ocean blocks (must be processed as it is salty and "chemical" filled; infinite), Salt deposits (2500 1 by 1 blocks), Ore deposits (2500 1 by 1 blocks), Regolith blocks (2500 1 by 1 blocks), Gold (normal), Aluminum (normal), uranium (normal), Granite OR Obsidian (Granite: 2500 1 by 1 blocks; Obsidian: 500 1 by 1 blocks); Salt in the Ocean blocks (10,000 per 1 by 1 block); Fir trees (normal); Contraband diamonds (normal; can only be mined after independence)
Characteristics: Limited land (if possible, the base map of each colony will always have a 3 by 3 square of land in the center with the lander); Limited resources; As with the lava, the ocean's shoreline will be constantly changing (if an unlucky colonist is on the shore when that happens, and the ocean block covers him, he will drown and die);
Starting Plot: Begin with one salt miner, one waterbot, and one granite/obsidian miner. Use 25 salt and 100 g/o to build the solar evaporator (1 by 1). Here you can use the waterbot to collect water as the ocean water cannot be processed by the lander. The solar evaporator turns ocean water into salt, ore, and regolith. The lander can build only a rover (Red Planet) and stores 100 salt and 100 o/g. The game will continue the same except for a few additional buildings and rovers. The small vehicle factory will produce rovers, ore miners, regolith miners, salt miners, o/g miners, waterbots, and builder bots. The builder bots can build a new building, the fishing pole factory (2 by 2). The fishing pole factory produces a new manufactured resource: fishing poles. Fishing poles can be used to be used to build the docks (2 by 7; instead of mass drive; can be partially built on water), water farms (5 by 5; built on water; produces food), and most importantly: the sub bot. The sub bot is an underwater miner and food collection probe that can travel on water to collect salt, food, and any trace amounts of resources in the water.

This is all I have for right now so enjoy! Please comment and expand this idea.

I suggest that these "builders" are part of the population, but when you build, let's say the construction depot, anyone who gets hired there becomes a builder. Whenever there is a building to be built, they come. They don't build as fast, but there can be a lot of them. Here's the full compass of my idea:

New Building: Construction depot
Hires 40 colonists; Stores 10,000 steel, gold, aluminum, antanium, triantanium, and bricks; produces small amount of income from building (similar to steel depot) and has a by-product of clay; consumes water, steel, gold, and aluminum; 5 by 5 square plot on map; built by advanced builder bot; requires 500 power; needs large-scale construction (for the workers and it builds all three builder bots and the drones), low gravity masonry, and advanced robotics; Constructed from 50,000 ore; 10,000 bricks; 5,000 gold; 1,500 aluminum; 25,000 steel; 10 robots; and 10,000 units (what I call the currency);

New Occupation: Worker
Employed at the construction depot; normal citizen, except for when any structure being built, they are there; base paycheck: $3; No space suit look: Yellow hard hat with orange safety vest, blue undershirt, and slightly unshaven face (no stereotype intended);
This is my idea about builders. Enjoy!

I meant builder or construction worker instead of just worker. Sorry!

for the lander you can do a very big normal lander or a tranport lander like
the "hercule" in star craft

Nice ideas Dillan. The salt resource would go good with the dessert planet that I suggested for humans.

yes, there is a dessert planet for reptilians, but I think that the play style and the resources should be different for UE and LIS factions.

My dessert planet idea includes a salt flat texture type on which salt mines can be placed. The salt is used to build basic structures like wells, houses, storage sheds, and so on while the surrounding cacti that would be in the dessert would be used for food and wood. Once the player get's enough cactus farms going, they can build up their charcoal production and then compact tke charcoal into ore eventually, but before that they will have built an entire village out of salt and wood, kind of like the forest planet except there would be a salt landing zone that would slowly generate people.

So, about your water water world idea, i like the limited space idea, but I don't think that we should add too many resources to the game because too many resources would subtract from the quality of the game. However, if you can shape your idea to use most of the current resources in the game, it would be a lot more appealing. Now, if we can just have salt added to the game, then that would be good for two planets instead of just one, your water world and my dessert world. I agree with the salt idea. I don't however, agree that the ocean should be constantly changing. However, I do think that adding a sea level element to the map and causing water to disappear from around the island would be really nice and feasible. That way, the player's main goal will be to lower sea level and reveal more areas of the map as the sea level drops.

Now here is what i have to say about putting all of your comments in one thread. The best chance that any idea has to be added is when it is accompanied with a poll, and you can't have a poll for each idea if they are all in one thread. You should just create one idea per thread and create a poll for each one. Then, when 8 more people vote yes than the peopl that vote no, the forum admin will(on the days that he decides to be responsible, jk Ottoich) put it in the suggestion index for all to see.

Sorry for the late reply. I totally agree with all of that. This is how it is going to be. This is going to be the page where I bounce ideas off people. Once one idea gains enough popularity here, I will create a separate poll with all the revisions. Thank you.

I am back again with a new human charter: The Panspermia Corporation.
Background: Founded in 2067, the Panspermia Corp. is a multi-trillion dollar company devoted to advancing human technology and spreading the human race all across the universe. They require much more materials, but they get the job done faster. Their logo is a strand of DNA inside a blue, basic style rocket.
Planets:
Desert World- Medium
Pulsar World- Difficult
Ice World- Brutal
Lava World- Death
Gas Giant- Impossible/Death
The desert, ice, and lava worlds are the same. There are two new ones: Pulsar and Gas Giant.
Basic Layout: You will not have a lander, instead you have a 3 by 3 base. Houses 15 people. Produces food (1 worker), water, atmosphere, power (100; 75 is used), research (2 workers), civics (2 workers), steel (2 workers), microchips (3 workers), silver and copper (mines; 2 workers), and galactic bronze smelter (2 worker; super alloy made from silver and copper). It also has a sick bay (1 worker). Most of these resources will be produced very slowly. Instead of small shelters, advanced shelters are used. Houses 2 colonists, with minimal trash output, and makes its own power (3 and consumes 3). Made from gb, silver, gold, microchips, and ore. The Mines (the building name), is a 3 by 3 mine that extracts silver and copper from the planet's surface. 3 workers. Later on, I will add other buildings. The base can fold up and move on 6 wheels. It will have the lander in the center, with tall solar paneled buildings on the side. Sketches will be added soon. The starting rover for all of the planets is the all-purpose rover. Very advanced and can harvest many different resources (ore, gold, and regolith) Can build mines for all of those resources. Once you click harvest, a small pop up menu will appear with the choices of ore, gold, regolith, and all. All allows the rover to collect all three materials at a time, but must collect 5 of each before returning to base. More will be added.
Pulsar World: Used to be a habitable super-Earth orbiting a stable binary system of a blue giant and a yellow dwarf. The blue giant went nova, consuming the yellow dwarf, and scorching the super-Earth's surface. All life got diamonzied and created a rock hard surface. All that remains is a few bacteria and a light atmosphere. The planet orbits far enough away from the pulsar that it won't be too uninhabitable, but it's not safe.
Resources: Bacteria (2 by 2 blocks of 500), Diamond (normal), Aluminum (normal), Uranium (normal), Gold (normal), Regolith (Normal), Obisidan (Normal)
Technicalities: Your colonists will get extremely sick. Lava may erupt every once in a while. Your water and food will "decay" fast.
Details: 250,000 Atmosphere; Start with super rover and bacterium rover; Later on you can build diamond rover and obsidian rover;
Gas Giant: Large Jupiter-like planet, with no solid surface. All resources will be vapor/liquid.
Resources: Liquid Diamond (2 by 2; 1000), Ore Vapor (2 by 2; 2500), Gold Vapor (2 by 2; 1000), Aluminum Vapor (2 by 2; 1000), Uranium (2 by 2; 1000);
Technicalities: Radiation is high. Colonists will die or get sick easily; All buildings will require large amounts of power as they are floating. under each structure, there will be a classic sci-fi yellow sprial, that somehow designates floating;
Details: 5,000,000,000 atmosphere; all rovers will fly, so therefore require more materials; Every resource will need its own solidification station, which turns the resource back into a usable solid;
Any questions, comments, or suggestions will be helpful, so just put them below. Thanks!

I really like the gas giant idea. You should see my "blast furnace" idea of a planet like mercury that's constantly scorched by the sun, just like the pulsar idea that you have.

My idea of a gas giant would be building platforms and then placing buildings on them. I like your idea of sifting resources out of the atmosphere, pretty realistic if you ask me since gas giants pull in countless asteroids and chunks of stuff over millions of years that get's vaporized when it falls through the atmosphere. I would actually make the platforms consume h3 instead of power, which would be gathered from the atmosphere as well.

See, just like when you fill a balloon with lighter air and it floats, platforms can float with lighter air. If you were to build a giant sky city on top of countless giant balloons filled with regular earth atmosphere and drop it into a gas giant, it would only fall so far before it would float. Then by expanding or compressing that air in those balloons you can make the city rise or fall. So they would probably need h3 more than they would need power.

I like your other ideas about the base and the new resource. We just need to make sure that we keep new resources to a minimum. When Bast add a new planet, he usually only adds maybe one new resource, if that. Maybe once in a while he may add more than one, but usually it's just one new resource per new planet. If you can stick to that guideline, then your ideas will be more in line with what bast is planning for this game.

That is one resource I should have added.
Resource: Helium 3 deposits (3 by 3; 10,000)
Some buildings will have ballast tanks or will be built on ballast platforms. Some will still use the "Magic Levitation Spiral of Science!" (Bill Nye Reference)
Thanks, Amorphus for your ideas and critiques.

New building type for Panspermia Corp: Bubble structures
Description: They can be used as housing, manufacturing centers, or anything really. Will be built out of aluminum, steel, galactic bronze, gold, and regolith.
New building for Forest World and Earth-like: Oil rig
Make your plains and forests look like Texas! Will extract oil from the ground and require only one worker. 3 by 2 and built from steel and ore. No power required.
