Complete Region Backup Coming to v1.5.0

Have you ever wanted to back up your entire region in My Colony with one click? Yes I know you have, since I have seen the suggestions and emails. Well, with the upcoming v1.5.0, you can now do just that!

This has to be done from the main region overview map. Open up game stats and go to the Game Data section at the bottom, and you will see a new backup section.

This will back up your entire region into one single file (new file format, *.mcr). To restore a region backup, go to More Options at the title screen, select Game Data, and then "Restore a Region." Simple as that. The backup and restore process may take a minute on large regions.

I don't remember if the city was already broken (some city go broke for some problem with the saving in browser), but.. i got this error:

I don't have the cloud sync active.

I have make a backup and restore it, seems work. Even some old city with old saving system (80% sure).

EDIT: the two error are an endless infinite loop. The screen is still the same after few min.

@Ansom when opening a file the game always checks the cloud first, even if cloud save was turned off, and it logs "cloud fail" when the file is not there, so its more of a debugging message that I have not turned off vs an error.

I'm also interested in that answer. my colony is quite old.

also would this work for android and ios?
could there also be an option to select a different place to save it for android and ios? Most users cant get to their maps to transfer out of their favorite phone systems due to the way the maps are buried in the os files.

Whether the game uses the new or old save system makes no difference. What might not work, which I have not tested yet, is on a region where game save compression is disabled. Compression should be enabled for all saves at this point.

It should work find on iOS and Android. After the backup, it should open up a Save As type dialog for you to select what to do with the file, using the OS's default built-in saving mechanism. I will test it on both platforms prior to release. This is the only way to get the data out of the game on those systems, since both are completely sand-boxed (including Win10) and do not allow access to the game's internal save directories.

uhm, i see. My main region have the compression disabled (is a old map, in those days compression seemed to have problems).

In beta , i have just make a new region map with compression turn off, 10 empty medium city, backup few times and restore, seems work.

of course is a very little region map.. not sure how the backup system will handle 200-300 full city.
