So, if My Colony 2 is planning to be err virtually like a minecraft world with seeds and how other players colonies could run in with yours. How exactly would that work...? I mean, would there be anything to prevent a player from surrounding another player in an attempt to slow their progress? I’m all for the idea of a mass multiplayer mechanic however I do foresee some possible ways certain players would take advantage of to slightly grief other players.
Also, how would ore deposits and stuff work? Would there just be a select few on a server and it’s all up for grabs?

So you are right that other players can grief each other, like in any other online multiplayer game. If you start a new game in MC2 and allow other players to join, you do become the admin of the server and will have abilities to deal with people who aren't playing right. You will also be able to assign other players as mods to help you out. Beyond that, there is no requirement for you to make your game public and let other people join your world, that is optional as well. You can also just build on your own planet like in MC1, and it could be that most players end up playing that way anyway, idk.

I don't plan on adding anything special to the game to automatically prevent griefing though, because some players may want to build in the same settlements anyway. The server owner will be responsible for establishing the rules and handling enforcement on their own server. If a player shows up and starts causing problems, you can kick them out and ban them, remove their structures, etc.

Ore deposits and whatnot will be plentiful. The worlds are infinite in size and players are not going to necessarily start right next to each other.
