Guide for Creating Voxel Models

Now that development of My Colony 2 is starting to chug along I think it would be important to have a thread dedicated to just to specifications of models ex Size, Rotation, Color. So that the community isnt creating tons of useless buildings.

Of course. Each tile in the game is 16x16 voxels in size, so in voxel paint you would set image size to 16.

All buildings should be a square multiple of 16. Being square will allow full 360 degree rotation of any building.

Any voxel that is colored #ff00ff will be transformed by the engine into whatever color the owning player is.

For size reference, here is the lander file, you can observe and match the scale.

Also if you are logged into voxel paint when you create your model, your username will automatically by parsed by the game when the in-game credits are added and displayed.

I will create a more detailed guide at some point, but this is a good starting point.

Yes you should definitely create a thread with all this info and pin it.

Looking at the lander for scale reference, we can say one block is 0.5m, right?
Making the lander (16x16 model) approx. 8x8x8 meters. I think this is realistic enough.

Would it also be possible to compile a color theme palette for the general style of various MC2 buildings?

.vpp files are mods?

.vpp files are voxel paint files which represent the 3d models within My Colony 2. Mod files and entity data files in My Colony 2 end in .c2m or .c2d respectively.
